What makes Pinterest block a link
Pinterest blocks links it believes lead to spam, and it doesn't publish the full list of reasons. Some triggers are well known: shortened links, long redirect chains, insecure pages, cloaked redirects and pages its crawler can't open. This checker tests a link for each of those. It can't see Pinterest's own block list.
Pinterest's community guidelines say shortener services "that are abused for spam, may be blocked", and that links which "exhibit excessive or deceptive redirection" may be blocked too. Pinterest allows affiliate links, but a chain of tracking redirects is the pattern spam filters watch for, so link to the final page whenever you can.
Since May 2026, site owners in Pinterest's Business Community have reported whole domains blocked as "may lead to spam", often with template appeal replies. If your link passes every check here, the block is likely about the domain's history rather than the link. Appeal through Pinterest's help center and include the claimed-site details.
How it works
Four steps, about a minute
- 1
Paste the exact link you pin
Use the destination as it is in the Pin, including any short link or tracking tags.
- 2
We follow every hop
Each redirect is recorded with its status code, host and whether it is secure.
- 3
Compare bot and browser
The page is fetched twice, as Pinterest's crawler and as a browser, to spot pages that change for bots.
- 4
Fix, then appeal if needed
Replace short links with the final URL, fix redirects, then appeal if the link is still blocked.

What the link test covers
- Redirect chainEvery hop from the link you pin to the page that loads, with status codes. One redirect is normal. Three or more is a warning.
- Link shortenersKnown shortener hosts such as bit.ly, tinyurl.com and linktr.ee, which Pinterest says may be blocked when abused.
- Host changesLinks that pass through other domains before landing, including affiliate tracking hosts.
- HTTPS and certificateWhether every hop is secure and the certificate is valid.
- Crawler accessWhether Pinterest's crawler can open the page, or a firewall, robots.txt rule or error stops it.
- Bot vs browserWhether the page lands somewhere different, or answers differently, when the visitor is a crawler.
- Hidden redirectsMeta refresh tags and JavaScript redirects that send readers somewhere other than the page they saw on Pinterest.
