About this tool
Why 1000 × 1500 is the size to start from
A Pinterest image resizer crops or fits an image to the sizes Pinterest shows best, such as 1000 × 1500 pixels for a standard 2:3 pin. This one runs in your browser: pick the sizes, tap the part that matters, and download each version. Your image is never uploaded.
Pinterest accepts many shapes, but pins taller than 2:3 can be cut off in the feed, and square pins take up less room than tall ones. That is why 1000 × 1500 is the size most creators use. Your profile photo shows as a small circle, so keep faces in the middle.
If your photo is smaller than a size you pick, the tool still makes it but tells you: stretching a small image makes it look soft. Start from the largest photo you have.

Pinterest image sizes
- Standard pin · 1000 × 1500A 2:3 ratio. The size most pins use; taller pins can be cut off in the feed.
- Square pin · 1000 × 1000Fine for products and quotes, but it takes less room in the feed than a tall pin.
- Video and tall pin · 1080 × 1920A 9:16 ratio for video pins and their covers. Keep text near the middle in case the feed shows a shorter crop.
- Profile photo · 400 × 400Shown small and round. A larger square stays sharp on high-resolution screens.
- Profile cover · 1600 × 900A 16:9 banner at the top of your profile. Keep the subject near the centre.
Questions
Asked often
What is the best image size for Pinterest?
1000 × 1500 pixels, a 2:3 ratio, for most pins. Pinterest notes that pins taller than 2:3 may be cut off in the feed.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The resizing happens in your browser. Nothing is sent to PinBoostr or anyone else, and the image is gone when you close the page.
Will resizing make my photo blurry?
Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Making it larger than the original cannot add detail, so the tool warns you when a size is bigger than your photo.
Crop or fit: which should I use?
Crop fills the whole size and trims the edges, best for photos. Fit keeps the whole image and fills the gaps with a blurred copy or a colour, best for screenshots, charts and text.
Can I make a board cover?
Pinterest picks a board cover from a pin already on the board. Save a pin with its subject in the middle to the board, then choose it as the cover when you edit the board.
Does it work with iPhone HEIC photos?
Only in browsers that can open HEIC, such as Safari. If the photo will not open, export it as JPEG first.
