PinBoostr

Pinterest plugin for WordPress

PinBoostr for WordPress is a free plugin that connects your blog to PinBoostr. New and updated posts sync seconds after you publish, PinBoostr turns them into fresh pin designs, and each pin goes to Pinterest through the official API only after you approve it. Inside WordPress, every post gets a 17-check content score.

What it does

Posts in, pins you approve out

The plugin is the bridge between your WordPress blog and PinBoostr. Your posts flow to PinBoostr the moment they change, pins come back for your approval, and WordPress gets a clear read on which posts need work.

Sync

New posts sync on their own

Publish or update a post and it reaches PinBoostr seconds later. No sitemap refreshes, no copying links.

Pins

Fresh pins, approved by you

PinBoostr designs new pins from your posts, often several per post with different images and angles. Nothing publishes until you approve it.

Score

A content score for every post

Seventeen checks for readability, structure, depth and SEO, worth 100 points. Every lost point comes with the sentence that fixes it.

Priorities

Fix these first

The checks failing on the most posts, biggest win at the top, so an afternoon of edits goes where it counts.

Stats

Pinterest numbers next to each post

Pins, saves and clicks from PinBoostr show beside your posts in WordPress, and in the toolbar if you want them there.

Blog writer

Posts written in PinBoostr

Write in the Blog workspace and the post arrives as a draft, with its images, alt text, SEO title and FAQ schema. Publishing stays off unless you allow it.

Refresh

Improve old posts, with an undo

Send a published post back for an update. Recipe cards, embeds and shortcodes stay exactly as they were, and the original can be restored for 14 days.

Control

You choose what syncs

Pick the post types that sync, and switch off any single post from the editor or the posts list.

Light

Nothing loads for your readers

No scripts, no styles, no tracking on your pages. The plugin works in wp-admin and talks to PinBoostr in the background.

Five minutes

How to install the plugin

Install the PinBoostr WordPress plugin like any other plugin, then connect it with the auth code from your PinBoostr account. There is nothing to configure before your first sync.

  1. 1

    Download the plugin

Get the zip from this page. It is free, and it is the same file WordPress updates from later.

  2. 2

    Upload and activate

In WordPress go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin. Choose the zip, press Install Now, then Activate.

  3. 3

    Connect it to PinBoostr

In PinBoostr open Websites, add your site and copy its auth code. Paste it on the PinBoostr screen in wp-admin and press Save & connect. Your posts sync straight away.

  4. 4

    Approve your pins

PinBoostr prepares pins from your posts. Review them, edit or skip any, and the ones you approve publish through the official Pinterest API on a paced schedule.

Three ways

Download options

PinBoostr publishes the plugin itself rather than through WordPress.org. Every option below installs the same file, and WordPress keeps it up to date from PinBoostr after that.

Changelog: latest is 2.8.0

2.8.0

  • PinBoostr Blog theme Pro: on any paid PinBoostr plan, sites using the free PinBoostr Blog theme get Pro options in the Customizer: an automatic table of contents, a “Jump to recipe” button for WP Recipe Maker, Tasty and Create cards, ad slots inside posts, a sticky sidebar widget and a reading progress bar.
  • Updates now install only when they carry PinBoostr’s signature, so not even a compromised server could push code to your site.
  • Nothing leaves your site until you connect it to PinBoostr. Before that, only the update check runs.
  • Password-protected posts are never sent to PinBoostr.
  • Posts from PinBoostr can no longer take a live post offline, and a post you unpublished is left alone.
  • Posts from PinBoostr can create missing categories (on by default; change it in Settings).
  • The connect link keeps your site key out of server logs, and deleting the plugin now removes its settings and cached scores.

2.5.0

  • Edit any post on your site from PinBoostr, and undo it. PinBoostr pulls the whole post (content, SEO fields, categories, tags and featured image), you compare before and after with scores, then update it live.
  • Restore the original in one click for 14 days. Your site only accepts a restore that is exactly the version PinBoostr replaced, and never over edits you made in WordPress since.
  • Posts can be found by their address, so every post in the list can be edited, including ones synced before this version.

2.4.0

  • Improve posts already on your site (Beta) — pick a published post in PinBoostr’s Blog workspace and it comes back here as an update, with sharper search details, new sections and images where they help.
  • Recipe cards, embeds, galleries, shortcodes and other blocks are locked while a post is improved and restored exactly as they were. Your slug, author, date and categories never change, and WordPress keeps a revision of the old version.
  • New setting: Improve existing posts (on by default). Turn it off and PinBoostr can’t read or update your published posts.

Inside WordPress

17 checks, 100 points

The content score grades every published post on four groups worth 25 points each. A check passes or fails, with no partial credit, and each failed check tells you the exact fix.

A grade sits next to every post in the posts list and the editor, the PinBoostr dashboard in wp-admin shows the spread across your whole blog, and you can sort by the lowest score or filter to thin posts.

The score judges writing, not Pinterest. Posts that read well, cover their topic and link sensibly tend to make better pins and better search results.

Not another auto-poster

Most Pinterest plugins for WordPress share a post the moment it goes live. PinBoostr for WordPress hands the post to PinBoostr instead, so every pin is designed for Pinterest and waits for your approval.

Questions

Before you install

Is the PinBoostr WordPress plugin free?
Yes. The plugin is free to download and use. It connects your blog to a PinBoostr account, and the free plan covers 1 website and 1 Pinterest account with 20 pins a month, and Growth Brain prepares pins from your posts for you. The paid plans raise the limits.
Does it publish to Pinterest automatically?
No. The plugin sends your posts to PinBoostr, PinBoostr prepares pins from them, and you approve each one. Approved pins publish through the official Pinterest API on a paced schedule. Nothing reaches Pinterest without your approval.
Do I need the plugin to use PinBoostr with WordPress?
No. PinBoostr can read any website through its sitemap. The plugin makes new and updated posts show up a few seconds after you publish instead of at the next sitemap refresh, and adds the content score, Pinterest numbers inside WordPress and posts from the Blog workspace.
Does it add Rich Pins or a Save button?
No, not since version 2.1. Rich Pins read the Open Graph and schema.org tags your SEO plugin already prints, and a second set would only conflict with them. Check what Pinterest sees on any post with the free Rich Pin validator.
Will it slow down my site?
The plugin adds no scripts or styles to the pages your readers see. Scoring and syncing run in wp-admin and in the background, and scores are cached so the posts list stays quick.
Does it work with Yoast SEO and Rank Math?
Yes. The content score reads the meta description from Yoast SEO, Rank Math, SEOPress or All in One SEO, and posts written in PinBoostr arrive with their SEO title, meta description and focus keyword filled in for whichever of those you use.
Why is it not on WordPress.org?
PinBoostr publishes the plugin itself. You download the zip from this page once, and after that WordPress installs new versions from PinBoostr automatically, the same way it updates any other plugin.
What does the plugin send to PinBoostr?
For each published post: its title, link, excerpt, SEO title and description, featured image link, categories and tags, dates and content score, so PinBoostr can make pins from it. It never sends anything about your readers, and you can leave out any post type or single post.
Can I use it on more than one site?
Yes. Install it on each site and connect each one with its own auth code from Websites in PinBoostr. How many websites you can connect depends on your plan; the free plan includes one.
