About this tool

How Pinterest makes money for you

Pinterest doesn't pay creators per view, so your income from Pinterest depends on outbound clicks to your site. Multiply monthly impressions by your outbound click rate to get visits, then apply your ad RPM and affiliate earnings. Typical blog ad RPMs and click rates vary widely, so use your own numbers where you have them.

Your outbound click rate is in Pinterest Analytics: outbound clicks divided by impressions. In our own public case study, a new account went from a 1.3% click rate in a manual month to about 2.6% the next month with Growth Brain. Those are one account's numbers, not a benchmark, which is why every field here is editable.

Pinterest's old Creator Rewards program has ended, so "how much does Pinterest pay for 1,000 views" has a plain answer: nothing directly. The money comes from what visitors do on your site: the ads they see, the affiliate links they click and the products they buy.

Read the case study behind those numbers.

Questions

Asked often

How much does Pinterest pay for 1,000 views?

Nothing directly. Pinterest doesn't pay creators for views. You earn from the visits your pins send to your site, through ads, affiliate links or your own products.

What is a good outbound click rate on Pinterest?

It depends on the niche and the pin. Pinterest doesn't publish an average. Track your own rate month to month: rising clicks per impression means your pins and keywords are working.

Where do I find my ad RPM?

Your ad network's dashboard shows it, often as page RPM or session RPM. If you use session RPM, set pages per visit to 1.

Can I make money on Pinterest without a blog?

Yes. Affiliate links and product pages work as pin destinations. Set ad RPM to 0 and use the sales fields.

Is this estimate accurate?

It is as accurate as the numbers you put in. Every field is editable and nothing is stored.
