Rich pins without the validator
Rich Pins pull a page's title, description and details like ingredients or price straight onto the Pin. Pinterest no longer offers its validator or an application step: any page with the right Open Graph or schema.org tags shows as a rich Pin automatically. This checker reads those tags the way Pinterest's crawler does.
There are three kinds. Article rich Pins show the headline, description and author. Recipe rich Pins add servings, cook time, ratings and the ingredient list. Product rich Pins carry the current price and availability. When a page has more than one kind of data, Pinterest uses product first, then recipe, then article.
Pinterest's help center says content can take up to 24 hours to sync to a rich Pin, so a fix you make today shows on new Pins from tomorrow. This checker reads the HTML your server sends, without running JavaScript. Tags that only a script adds, such as some tag-manager setups, are the ones most likely to be missed.
How it works
Four steps, about a minute
- 1
Paste the page, not the homepage
Rich pin data lives on each post, recipe or product page. Check the exact URL you pin.
- 2
We fetch it like Pinterest does
The request identifies as Pinterest's crawler, so redirects, robots.txt rules and firewall blocks show up too.
- 3
Read the board
Pink cards block a rich pin, yellow cards are worth improving, green cards are fine.
- 4
Fix, then check again
Results are kept for 10 minutes. After changing tags, clear your site cache before re-checking.

What the validator checks
- Crawler accessThe status code, every redirect, robots.txt rules for Pinterestbot and firewall challenges that stop Pinterest reading the page.
- Rich pin typeWhether the page carries product, recipe or article data, and which one Pinterest will use.
- Article fieldsog:title, og:description and og:site_name, plus the author and publish date from Article schema.
- Recipe fieldsschema.org Recipe: name, ingredients, instructions, yield, cook time and rating. Recipe rich Pins only read schema.org.
- Product fieldsPrice, currency and availability from Open Graph product tags or schema.org Product offers.
- Pin imageThe og:image Pinterest picks first, its real size, and whether the page has a tall 2:3 image.
- Save blocksA pinterest "nopin" meta tag or nopin images, which stop people saving the page.
