Tailwind App Review 2026: Pricing, Credits and Real Complaints
Our Tailwind app review for 2026: the September plan change, credits, the free start, what Trustpilot reviewers complain about and who Tailwind still suits.
On this page
Tailwind is still the best-known Pinterest scheduler, with SmartSchedule timing, SmartPin pin creation and Turbo engagement, but since September 25, 2026 its new plans are Pinterest-only, priced per Pinterest account and paid in monthly credits. It suits a single-account pinner who wants an established tool and checks the renewal date; people with several Pinterest accounts, or who want flat pricing, should do the credit math first. This review covers who Tailwind for Pinterest is for, what changed in September, how credits work, what it costs, what Trustpilot reviewers complain about, and our verdict.
How we reviewed it: this is a desk review by Himas Rafeek, founder of PinBoostr, which competes with Tailwind. We read Tailwind's pricing page, its help center and its Trustpilot profile on October 29, 2026. We did not run a paid, scored test, so treat the verdict as a reasoned opinion. For a full cost breakdown with several accounts, see Tailwind pricing explained; for a feature-by-feature table, see PinBoostr vs Tailwind.

Who Tailwind is for
- Hands-on pinners with one Pinterest account who want the most established name and are happy to design some pins themselves.
- People who rely on Turbo, Tailwind's engagement feature, or who already run a legacy plan that still covers their posting.
- Anyone still scheduling Instagram or Facebook in Tailwind, as long as they keep their legacy plan. The new plans do not cover those networks.
It is a weaker fit if you run several Pinterest accounts (each one is a separate subscription with its own credits) or if you want AI pins every day, because AI pins cost several credits each.
What changed on September 25, 2026
Tailwind's help center says that "Since September 25, 2026, Tailwind is sold as three Pinterest tools": Pin Scheduling & Creation, Pinterest SEO and Pinterest Engagement, which can be bought together as a bundle. The old Pro, Advanced and Max plans "are no longer available to new subscribers."
- Per account. "Each plan applies to one connected Pinterest account," with its own subscription and credits.
- Legacy plans keep running while they stay active, but "once you switch you can't return to a legacy plan."
- Instagram and Facebook: "Scheduling to Instagram and Facebook is available only on legacy plans."
If you are on a legacy plan, decide before your renewal date whether it still covers what you post, because it cannot be restarted later.
Tailwind features
- Pin Scheduling & Creation: pin creation and writing, weekly automation (SmartPin builds new pins from your site), smart scheduling and spacing (SmartSchedule), SEO-friendly image filenames and website sync.
- Pinterest SEO: keyword research and tracking, keywords by URL, unlimited keyword tags and keyword matching reports.
- Pinterest Engagement: Turbo, which boosts Pins for up to 90 days.
- Ghostwriter: AI text generation, billed in credits.
Tailwind has a partner page in Pinterest's Business Partners directory, and it posts through Pinterest's official API.
How Tailwind credits work
Every action draws from your monthly credits. Tailwind lists these costs "as of September 29, 2026" and says they may change:
| Action | Credits |
|---|---|
| Schedule a Pin | 1 |
| Ghostwriter generation | 1 |
| SmartPin, basic / premium | 3 / 7 |
| Keyword search or board keyword check | 1 |
| Turbo boost, 30 / 60 / 90 days | 7 / 12 / 15 |
| Extra credits | 100 for $10 |
Three details matter in practice. "Unused included credits don't carry over," while purchased credits roll over. Tailwind's credits article says that before August 20, 2026 "there was no way to see or switch off automatic refills" on these plans, and accounts started after that date begin with auto-refill off. And SmartPin can keep working in the background, so "your balance can go down even when you're not logged in."
A quick example from those rates: scheduling pins you designed yourself, 300 credits cover 300 pins. If SmartPin makes every pin, a basic SmartPin plus scheduling is 4 credits, so 300 credits cover about 75 pins a month. That is our arithmetic, not a Tailwind figure.
Want pins made without counting credits? PinBoostr's Growth Brain prepares pins from your own posts and product pages, and you approve each pin before it publishes through the official Pinterest API. Scheduling never uses credits. See the PinBoostr Pinterest scheduler.
Tailwind pricing in 2026
Read from Tailwind's pricing page on October 29, 2026. All plans are per Pinterest account.
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed yearly | Credits a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pin Scheduling & Creation | $29.99/mo | $17.99/mo | 300 |
| Pinterest SEO | $14.99/mo | $11.99/mo | 50 |
| Pinterest Engagement | $14.99/mo | $11.99/mo | 50 |
| Bundle (all three) | See Tailwind's page | $29.98/mo | See Tailwind's page |
Verified non-profits get 50% off, according to the same page. With two or more Pinterest accounts, multiply each plan by the number of accounts; our Tailwind pricing page has the full table.
Is Tailwind free?
Not as an ongoing plan. Tailwind says "You can start using Tailwind for free, no credit card required," and its help center explains what that means: each Pinterest account gets a one-time set of 10 scheduled Pins, 5 SmartPin generations, 5 Ghostwriter generations, 5 keyword searches and 3 Turbo boosts, and they do not reset monthly. If you want a scheduler that stays free, Pinterest's own scheduler holds up to 10 Pins up to 30 days ahead.
Tailwind reviews: what Trustpilot users say
On October 29, 2026, Tailwind's Trustpilot profile showed a TrustScore of 3.0 out of 5 from 304 reviews. The star split was 77% five-star, 5% four-star, under 1% three-star, 2% two-star and 15% one-star. Trustpilot also showed "8 reviews in the last 12 months" and noted that Tailwind "hasn't invited customers recently, so reviews may not be representative." Trustpilot does not fact-check reviews, so read them as individual reports.
The older reviews are mostly positive. Reviewers praise SmartPin and scheduling for saving time, and several thank the support team. The recent reviews are not: the six newest reviews on the profile, from December 2025 to October 2026, were all one or two stars. The complaints fall into five themes:
- Annual renewals. Several reviewers say they were charged for a yearly renewal they did not expect and did not see a reminder for.
- Refunds. Reviewers report refunds being refused after those renewals. This matches Tailwind's own help center: "No refunds are provided for unused subscription time."
- Cancelling. One October 2026 review calls cancelling "unnecessarily complicated." Tailwind replied that it was sorry for the friction and that most customers can cancel on their own.
- Support speed, with short or slow replies.
- Bugs and AI output, such as SmartPin failures, mentioned in a few reviews.
Tailwind has replied to some reviews and says it sends renewal reminders, while noting they can land in spam filters. Its cancellation article gives the practical advice: "Please don't rely on a renewal reminder email alone." Put your renewal date in your own calendar.
Tailwind pros and cons
Pros
- The most established Pinterest tool, with a partner page in Pinterest's Business Partners directory
- SmartSchedule timing and SmartPin pin creation from your site
- Turbo for extra engagement, which few rivals offer
- Start without a card, and cancel in Settings; access runs to the end of the paid period
Cons
- Credit pricing: AI pins cost 3 to 7 credits each, and unused included credits expire monthly
- Priced per Pinterest account, so costs multiply with each account
- No refunds for unused subscription time
- New plans are Pinterest-only; Instagram and Facebook need a legacy plan
- Recent Trustpilot reviews center on renewals, refunds and cancelling
Our verdict
Tailwind is a capable, mature Pinterest tool, and for a single account where you design most pins yourself, 300 credits for $17.99 a month billed yearly is reasonable. The September 2026 change makes it harder to recommend for two groups: bloggers who want AI to make most of their pins, because credits run out quickly at 4 to 8 credits a pin, and anyone running several Pinterest accounts. Whatever you choose, read the renewal and refund terms first, because they drive most of the recent complaints.
A Tailwind alternative: PinBoostr
PinBoostr is our product, so weigh this accordingly. It turns your own blog posts and product pages into pins: Growth Brain picks the pages worth pinning, AI writes keyword-led titles and descriptions and designs the pins, and you approve each pin before it publishes through the official Pinterest API, spaced across the week. Scheduling never uses credits. Starter is $19.99 a month ($199 a year) for 1 Pinterest account and 1 website with up to 20 pins a day; Growth is $39.99 a month for 3 accounts and 3 websites. Every account starts with a 1-month free trial with no card, and there is a full refund within 14 days of any purchase or renewal.
Where Tailwind is ahead: Turbo, a longer track record, a Pinterest Business Partners listing, and Instagram and Facebook on legacy plans. PinBoostr does not make video pins or schedule Instagram or Facebook. If you are comparing several tools, see the best Tailwind alternatives or the wider Pinterest automation tools roundup, and test keywords first with the free Pinterest keyword tool.
Try it on your own site: start free for a month, connect Pinterest, and approve your first week of pins before anything posts.
FAQ
Is Tailwind worth it in 2026?
For one Pinterest account where you design most pins yourself, yes: $17.99 a month billed yearly buys 300 credits, enough to schedule about 10 pins a day. If you want AI to make most pins or you run several accounts, compare the credit cost with flat-priced tools first.
Is Tailwind free for Pinterest?
You can start without a card, but the free part is a one-time set of trial actions per Pinterest account (10 scheduled Pins, 5 SmartPins, 5 Ghostwriter generations, 5 keyword searches, 3 Turbo boosts) that does not reset. Pinterest's own scheduler is the free option that lasts.
How much does Tailwind cost?
Pin Scheduling & Creation is $29.99 a month, or $17.99 a month billed yearly, for 300 credits. Pinterest SEO and Pinterest Engagement are $14.99 a month each ($11.99 yearly) with 50 credits. Every plan is per Pinterest account (checked October 29, 2026).
Does Tailwind give refunds?
Its help center says "No refunds are provided for unused subscription time." On current plans you keep access until the end of the period you paid for after cancelling.
Can Tailwind still schedule Instagram and Facebook?
Only on legacy plans. Tailwind's help center says scheduling to Instagram and Facebook "is available only on legacy plans," and the plans sold since September 25, 2026 are Pinterest-only.
Is Tailwind approved by Pinterest?
Tailwind posts through Pinterest's official API and has a partner page in Pinterest's Business Partners directory. That is a business relationship; it does not mean Pinterest reviews the pins you post. Read is Pinterest automation safe for what keeps an account in good standing.
