On this page
The best LinkedIn carousel size is 1080 x 1350 pixels, a 4:5 portrait page, uploaded as a PDF. LinkedIn accepts documents of up to 300 pages and 100 MB. Square 1080 x 1080 pages work too, but the taller page takes up more of the feed on a phone, which is where most people will swipe through it.
LinkedIn carousel dimensions at a glance
| Format | Size | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Portrait (recommended) | 1080 x 1350 px, 4:5 | Almost always. The most feed space on mobile. |
| Square | 1080 x 1080 px, 1:1 | When you reuse the same slides on other networks. |
| Landscape | 1920 x 1080 px, 16:9 | Only for slides from an existing presentation. It shows small in the feed. |
Use one size for every page. The first page sets the frame for the whole document, so a mix of sizes leaves later pages with bars or awkward cropping.
File limits LinkedIn sets
- File types: PDF, PPT, PPTX, DOC and DOCX. Export to PDF so your fonts and layout arrive exactly as designed.
- File size: up to 100 MB.
- Length: up to 300 pages.
- Title: LinkedIn asks for a document title when you upload, and shows it on the post. Write it like a headline, not a file name.
- No edits after posting: once the post is live you can change the text above it, but not the document. Proofread every page first.
The file limits come from LinkedIn's help page on sharing documents, checked in October 2026. Sponsored carousel ads follow a different, stricter spec, so check LinkedIn's ad specs if you plan to promote the post.
Is a LinkedIn "carousel" the same as a document post?
For personal profiles, yes. LinkedIn does not offer an image carousel like Instagram's. What people call a LinkedIn carousel is a document post: a PDF that LinkedIn shows one page at a time with swipe arrows. That is why the advice above is about pages and PDFs rather than images.
Design tips that hold up on a phone
- Big type. Most people read the slides on a phone at a third of their real size. If a line of body text is not readable when the page is shrunk to phone width, it is too small.
- One idea per page. A carousel works because each swipe gives a small reward. A page that needs a minute of reading breaks the rhythm.
- A first page that earns the swipe. It is the only page shown in the feed. Make the promise of the carousel clear there.
- Keep it short. Most strong carousels run 6 to 12 pages. The 300-page limit is not a target.
- End with one clear next step, such as a question to answer in the comments.
- Keep text away from the edges, where page numbers and the swipe arrows sit.
